Hi my name is Camille Shockley. I am a 19 year-old college student majoring in Social Work at the University of Alabama. My family and I have been attending church of the Highlands for only a few months now and I could not be more thankful! I know now that growing up in a Christian home does not mean that you are promised a spot in heaven. This was not always so. Before experiencing true freedom in Christ, I know that God was still very active in my life. After going my own way for a short time, God quickly turned my life around to glorify him.

This summer I had the opportunity to attend the Motion 15 student conference. This conference consisted of students from junior high to college with over 11,000 students in attendance! Many magnificent speakers and worship teams shared the word of God with the theme it starts here.

This conference filled the BJCC with kids from all walks of life and spoke directly to each and every one of them, myself included. Each day we started out with a worship session followed by an amazing message. After the hearing the messages we got a chance to go in to a small group with students our own age. These small groups allowed us to connect with other people who were searching to know more about God and allowed each individual to grow dig deeper in their faith.

All of the speakers spoke deeply to me almost as if God had designed their messages specifically for what was on my heart that very moment. Christiane Caine is such a powerful speaker, her words are so moving and the Lord has truly blessed her with amazing talents. What really hit home for me was how she spoke about being faithful with what is your hand every moment. I know most of us get caught up in praying for out future praying that our day, week, month and year will be filled with his presence but when was the last time we prayed that in this very moment help me to keep faith and push forward, be bold in my faith and for the holy spirit to speak through me with the next words that flow through my mouth no matter what circumstance we are in.

A huge point in all of the speaker’s messages was that we are a revival generation. During worship a couple times I took a second to stop singing and simply look around the huge arena I was standing in. My heart was filled with joy teens were pouring their hearts into the Lord and worshiping him with their hands lifted praising our holy Lord. God is working all though out our generation, seeing teens as young as middle school surrender their lives to Jesus was truly a blessing and gives me hope for our broken world that we will be filled with life.

Boldness was another major topic of Motion 15. In any situation, other than church, we are pushed out of our comfort zones, our faith is tested, how will we show those around us how the Lord has molded our hearts. It is so easy to crawl into a shell when we see someone is hurting in fear that since they aren’t a Christian they aren’t going to want to hear what we have to say but that is the enemy allowing us to feel this way. The speakers encouraged us to not allow Motion 15 to be a spiritual high but an experience that will change us from the inside out.

Overall this conference gave me a sence of peace and allowed me to experience His presence, after leaving motion I have had time to take it all in and grow deeper in my faith. Motion left me hungry for the word and excited to share with others what He has done in my life. I would encourage all junior high, high school and college students to sign up for next year! The Lord’s presence filled the arena and so many beautiful individuals gave their life to Him and experienced the freedom that comes with being saved by Jesus.
