Brindlee Mountain Fire Apparatus: Putting out Fires and Shining Christ’s Light

Brindlee

Brindlee Mountain Fire Apparatus is the nation’s largest buyer and seller of used fire apparatus. But that’s not all they do! Brindlee Mountain is a Bright Spot for the light of Christ as you can see when you go to their website (https://www.firetruckmall.com/) and find Micah 6:8: “He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.” This is one of the Scriptures that guides founder and president, James Wessel.

James sees Brindlee Mountain not just as a business but as an opportunity to do the Lord’s work. He realizes that he and his employees spend a large percentage of their weekly hours at work and they don’t want to miss a moment for the Kingdom. Each morning Brindlee Mountain employees begin the day in peer-led devotion, prayer requests, and prayer time. “This binds us together as a body. We work together in community and no one is isolated.” The employees take communion together once a month and invite a local pastor to come share during this time. They give out Bibles at trade shows and include personalized Bibles with each firetruck they sell. “We are very open about our faith, it’s a part of our DNA. We try to encourage each other in being bold.”

When asked what makes Brindlee a bright spot, James said, “the brightness comes from the team that God has assembled here. There’s a large number of dynamic and authentic believers that God has brought. The integrity, honesty and energy that they bring to the table each day is pretty extraordinary. To see the level of hospitality driven by their faith and the light that exudes from these people as followers of Christ is what makes it a bright spot for me and others.”

How can you enjoy this Bright Spot?

Brindlee Mountain is truly a kid’s paradise! Children can climb on one of the 80 firetrucks, and even go for a ride! Bring a picnic and enjoy feeding ducks, sheep, geese and goats (feed provided). You can walk along a beautiful half mile prayer walk covered in Scripture with benches to relax and swings to enjoy. “God has blessed us with these beautiful forty acres…and the purpose extends way beyond us,” James said. He feels led to share the blessing with others in the community. Guests are welcome during business hours, Monday-Friday 8-5. No appointment needed. Come to the front door and the staff is set up to accommodate you. What an amazing blessing Brindlee Mountain is to our community in so many ways! Praise God for how He is working in and through this unique business to shine the light of Christ!

A group of about 30 of us visited BMFA today! All the kiddos (and us mamas) had a BLAST! 🙂 The staff were SO welcoming and kind! They gave us feed for the animals, fire hats, and led us on a tour around the property (you could totally make this educational… think: nature scavenger hunt; and we loved reading the Bible verses all along the trail). We ended our visit with a ride on one of the firetrucks (complete with sirens and all), followed by snacks on the lawn & volleyball. We were there during our usual naptime hours, and even though some of our children were having fits & meltdowns (or were just plain hyper), not one of the BMFA peeps ever once seemed annoyed or frustrated! They were friendly & excited to see us, and they truly exuded the LIGHT of Christ!!! Which was such a breath of fresh air! May God continue to bless this business and HIS laborers, who are impacting the Kingdom for HIS glory! 🙂
