“Lord Over Our City: My Story” by Judy Howard

The Lord never ceases to amaze me even though I do know He is AMAZING!!!! For many years a group of women have been meeting weekly to pray for our city, state, and nation, sometimes in homes and many times on sights of significance. On the morning of our Bible Study Fellowship discussion of John, Chapter 12 when Jesus rides into Jerusalem the week of Passover and the crowds shouted “Hosanna, blessed is He who comes in the Name of the Lord”, my comment was, “Would it not be AWESOME if the Body of Christ in Madison County gathered to ask Jesus to come and be Lord over our city”. Megan Wilson, our Assistant Teaching Leader who was visiting our discussion group that day, pointed to me and said, “You do it!!!!” I immediately felt the Holy Spirit speak to me confirming this.

After several weeks of prayer the LORD assured me I heard correctly. The next Friday morning at our prayer gathering, there were two new ladies who were there for a divine appointment. Both are involved with the National Day of Prayer in our county. After group prayer, the puzzle pieces began to fall into place. This gathering for the LORD and our invitation to invite Him into Lordship of our city was set in place as the culmination to a three day event for the National Day of Prayer for Madison County. It will begin with a one hour time of prayer over the mountains that influence culture followed by a 75 hour Bible reading marathon on the west side of the courthouse sidewalk facing Big Spring Park. All believers are invited to PLEASE sign up for a slot to read the word by emailing kimcopley@me.com to receive the link to choose your time. As the body, we will read aloud Genesis 1:1 through Revelation 21:27 during the marathon.

The gathering of the body of Christ will begin at 5:00 pm on the east side of Big Spring Park near the fountain. This is a significant spot as it was so involved with our city’s spiritual formation. In unison we will read Revelation 22 from our individual Bibles, phone apps, or whatever each brings. We will then be led in prayer to invite  Christ to have full REIGN over our city, worship in song, share Communion, and pray the Lords Prayer together.

Please pray for the events, for how you and your family can participate, and plan to gather as God’s family on Sunday May 7th to worship and praise our Lord. He alone is WORTHY.

Thank you Lord for loving our city in such a demonstrative way, my we bring GLORY to your NAME. Soli Deo Gloria.
