Pastor’s Prayer

Ross Jaeger, Rivertree Church

Father, bless our city.  Your Scriptures affirm that as our city prospers so do we as your people.  Huntsville is filled with people experiencing all kinds of difficulties alongside others that are indifferent.  The work we need in our city is a work that begins in each one of us, a work that begins in me.  A reorientation of my life towards others where compassion and unity have a chance is created by my understanding of Christ’s compassion towards me and the unity I can have with God through Jesus’ life, death, and resurrection.  Father, draw us to yourself.  Change me.  Let the city prosper by hearts returning to you.  I pray this in the name of Christ.

“Our City On A Hill” Back to School Prayers

Jesus cares greatly for children. “Let the children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these” (Mark 10:13). He loves the children in our city, and as they go back to school, please join us in lifting them in prayer. “The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective” (James 5:16). What an honor to lift them up to God!

Pray for the school children….that they are healthy, protected and participating. Pray that they would know they have a Savior who loves them and created them in His image. Pray they would know the joy of Christ’s love and be able to share that love with others. Pray for protection from harm of all kinds. Pray for a depth of faith (Hebrews 10:22), a respect for others (1 Cor 1:10), an openness of heart (Luke 10:30-37) and a fear of the Lord (Proverbs 9:10).

Pray for the children’s families…that their parents would have godly wisdom to help them grow in grace and knowledge, in kindness, compassion and love. Pray they will help protect their children from any harm. Pray that members of their families will have a respect for each other (1 Cor 1:10), christ-like behavior (1 Peter 1:6), and a depth of dependability (1 Cor 4:2) in their home.

Pray for the children’s teachers.. that our city’s teachers would have a godly love for their students and an enthusiasm for the subjects they teach. Pray they have wisdom, insight and discernment as they teach and lead the children. Give them patience and fill the classrooms with peace and goodwill.

Pray for the children’s education…that the children would arrive at school each day safely and ready to learn. That they know that education is a great privilege. That they have a willingness to work hard (2 Peter 1:5), wisdom to set goals (Proverbs 4:25), a desire to listen (Eph 1:15,18), and the capacity to grow (Hebrews 5: 12-14).

Pray for the children’s community…that it will be transformed by God’s love. Pray for a support system for these children. Pray that God will bring the needed tutors and mentors to these students to help lead them. Pray the community has the courage and desire to reach out to those neighbors and children who are in need.

We are all given a gift to show God to others. Please ask God to reveal if there are any ways you can steward your unique resources and talents to share His love with the school children in our community.
