Kingdom Connection

1. Tell us about yourself

Hello, we are Dexter & Shelia Elston, Senior Pastors of Kingdom Connection Ministries here in Huntsville, Alabama. Kingdom Connection Ministries is a cutting edge ministry established and purposed by God to serve humanity by teaching, preaching, and demonstrating the Gospel of the Kingdom of God. It is our hearts desire to communicate and do our part to execute the mandate given to us by the Holy Spirit to compel men to “Get Connected” to God, His Kingdom, and His Purpose. It is our conviction that Jesus Christ, the Lord and King of our Kingdom has come to save man from his sin and re-connect us to the purpose that God the Father had for man before the fall, which is to rule and reign on earth under the influence of the Kingdom of Heaven, being led by the Holy Spirit. Shelia and I, both are from the Anniston/ Gadsden area. We relocated to Huntsville in 2005 and launched KCM in 2009 to serve and impact this community teaching & preaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

2. What motivates you to do what you do?

The motivation of our ministry comes from seeing people have genuine encounters with God, which will leave them with an insatiable desire to pursue more. It has been those encounters that has caused us to provoke others to desire more of an “experiential” relationship with God, rather than just the adoption of a philosophy. Religion does not change an individual, but an encounter with Jesus does. The joy that comes when people share their testimony of seeing God at work in their lives and the live of those around them is our motivation for ministry.

3. What is God speaking to you right now?

It is our conviction that in this hour, the Lord is compelling those of us in the church, particularly leaders, to provoke the saints in the pews to “get engaged” by desiring to be used of God to impact their warm market by sharing Christ, and demonstrating the supernatural power of the Kingdom. Instead of having a local congregation full of bored spectators, we should motivate the people of God to commune and yield themselves to the Holy Spirit, that miracles, signs, & wonders may follow the preaching of Jesus. Kingdom advancement is not solely the responsibility of the pastors and leaders. We believe that true revival will take place when the people in the pews engage the throne of God in prayer, and see God’s mighty power at work in their lives and the lives of others…outside the four walls of our churches. We believe that God in this hour is raising up a “kingdom culture” in our local churches, where everyone participates in the work of the Kingdom.

3. What does unity in our city mean to you?

It is our conviction that no “single” local church or congregation can claim any level of success against the demonic principalities assigned to this region without the intentional effort to stretch out its hands, and withdraw strength from other churches in the region. All through the New Testament, we see that the scriptures referred to the church as a collective unit in a city or region (i.e. the Church at Rome, the Church at Galatia, the Church at Ephesus, etc.). We are convinced that a unified region of churches (THE Church of Huntsville or Madison County) coming together in unity is a colossal threat to the kingdom of darkness. When we come together as “One”, this scripture can be the testimony of those of us who favor a righteous cause…And the LORD said, “Behold, they are one people, and they have all one language, and this is only the beginning of what they will do. And nothing that they propose to do will now be impossible for them.”(Gen 11:6)

Prayer for our city:

“Abba Father, it is our hearts desire in this city and region to see your Kingdom come, and your will be done in the earth, as it is in Heaven. May you empower your church, unite us in heart, and allow us to shake this planet one more time in a mass revival before the coming of our Lord Jesus. In this time of tremendous persecution, we pray according to the scriptures, that now, Lord, that you would look on the threats against those who oppose your people, and grant to Your servants that with all boldness they may speak Your word, and by stretching out Your hand to heal, and that signs and wonders may be done through the name of Your holy Servant Jesus. Let a pure love abound in our hearts for one another, for this indeed is our testimony to a confused and calloused world. For thine Oh Lord is the Kingdom, the Power, and the Glory, both now and forever…Amen!”
