Tell Us About Yourself:

My name is Jenny Erlingsson and I fell in love with Jesus at the age of 5 and have never looked back. I have the privilege of being married to a handsome and amazing man from Iceland named Bjarni (although most know him as Thor). We are parents to two cute mocha drops ages 3 (Nyema) and 19months (Thor) and a 3rd set to arrive in early August. We sometimes call our kids Vikerians since their father is a viking from Iceland and my parents were born in Nigeria. I currently serve as the assistant to our co-senior pastor and help her oversee our women’s ministry. Before that I was the Jr. High Pastor for 8 years after receiving a graduate degree in social work. When I’m not running after toddlers or running within our church and if I have some rare free time, I’m probably reading a book, trying to finish writing a book, watching a superhero movie, shopping or taking a nap.

What motivates you to do what you do?

I am motivated by my desire to know God and his ways and to make Him known to others. My passion is for people, especially women, to find their identity and wholeness in Jesus and to step out in boldness into all that God has created them to be. I love seeing people fulfill dreams; so to be a part of that somehow is exciting to me. In all of it, I just want to make God smile and say “That’s my girl.”

What is God speaking to you right now?

About being more Spirit led and less flesh driven. As a mom of little ones, I get a clear picture of how I don’t always respond according to the ways of my Heavenly Father. So, he is gently reminding me of His ways and how patient and loving and forgiving and merciful He is to me.

What does unity in our city mean to you?

It means that we don’t care who gets the credit. That we choose to walk together in obedience to God and our specific post on the wall without being caught up in the game of comparison. We are not called to be bricks in isolation but joined together, fulfilling our specific post and assignment for the kingdom. HIS kingdom purpose should unify us all.

Prayer for our city:

Lord first I thank you for the honor of living in a city like Huntsville. You have trusted the area churches with a place in the South that has such history and also such potential. Amidst the military, engineering, educational mindsets, amidst the businesses and organizations and in the midst of the our city traditions, I pray that you have your way. I ask you to be glorified through all that we do and that you would continue to empower the churches in Huntsville to operate as you have called us to. Help us, through the power of your Holy Spirit, to cause this place to be a place of refuge for the lost and hurting. In Jesus’ name, amen.
