Prayers for Our City: Churches March 7, 2015

How good and pleasant it is when God’s people live together in unity! Ps. 133:1

Father God, we ask You to encourage the Body of Christ of HSV/Madison County to take advantage of the opportunities to experience and exhibit unity and love to our community. Lord, we ask for that good, delightful experience of being united by Your Spirit as we come together to celebrate You and to serve our city! We cover these two upcoming events with Your Love and favor so that your people will be drawn to support and participate, “making every effort to keep the bond of unity. ” Eph. 4:3


“…Christ our Passover is sacrificed for us: Therefore LET US KEEP THE FEAST…” (1Co 5:7,8)
The Christ Our Passover unity banquet celebrates our common heritage through the blood of Jesus annually. This feast day is not man conceived, it is God ordained and biblically defined to give focus to the all-important blood of Jesus as our basis for unity and forgiveness. John 1:7 says, “If we walk in the light, as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, His Son, purifies us from all sin.” Eating together is the universal gesture of love and acceptance in every culture. The Kingdom of God is no exception, because through Christ we are all one. Serving the City is an annual event to bring the churches of Greater Huntsville and the surrounding communities together to visibly demonstrate the love of Christ through united prayer, a day of serving in the community, and celebrating together God’s goodness. In 2015 over 2800 Christians served from 68 different congregations and worked 230 projects impacting over 9000 people in our communities.

Father, we thank You for these and the many opportunities You give the churches of this city to celebrate and work together. May we see the importance and make even more effort to know and appreciate what You have deposited in each congregation so that we will function as the Body You intended to shine over the mountains of culture in this city in this season for Your honor and glory!

Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to Him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen. Ephesians 3:20-21
