Prayers for Our City: April 4, 2016-Businesses

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. And my God will meet all your needs according to His glorious riches in Christ Jesus.” Phil. 4:6-7, 19

Thank You, Father God, that the unemployment rate in Madison County has decreased in the last several years: 9.1% in 2010, 7.2% in 2012, and staying close to the current 5.5% since 2013. (This is lower than the Alabama state figure, but higher than the U.S. rate.) We praise You as our Provider and acknowledge that work is a gift from You (Eccl.3:19 and 5:19). So we continue to ask You for new jobs to be created and unemployment rates to continue to decrease.

May Your great grace and peace be upon those dealing with the shock of losing their job recently, as well as upon those fighting discouragement from looking for employment for what seems a very long time. May this experience serve to bring them close to You in love and trust. Holy Spirit, dear Comforter and Counselor, would you teach them how to refuse to give way to fear, self-pity, bitterness or complaining. Give them a testimony of Your supernatural provision and goodness that draws many to the Kingdom. We thank You for guiding them to the right open doors and blessing them with favor in their job search.

Would You please show the Church how to be a source of encouragement to the unemployed. Shield them from judgmental stereotyping by potential employers and society. Thank You for the agencies and Christian ministries that are established to give council, confidence and hope. May no one seeking work in our city give up in despair.
[Pray for the unemployed you know by name to find meaningful employment soon and glorify God for it.]

Bless those You are calling and giving “divine downloads” of creative ideas for generating income and creating new businesses. Open the way for righteous trade so that our entire city prospers in Your provision.

“… every man should eat and drink and enjoy the good of all his labor—it is the gift of God.” Eccl. 3:13
