Prayers for Our City: Arts February 29, 2016

“Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand…” Ephesians 6:11

The Panoply Arts Festival celebrates music, dance, theatre, and the visual arts with an emphasis on children and arts education. The definition of panoply is a “magnificent, impressive array; splendid display. Webster’s dictionary says it also means a “complete suit of armor” – ORIGIN late 16th cent. (in the sense [complete protection for spiritual warfare,] often with biblical allusion to Eph. 6:11, 13): from French panoplie or modern Latin panoplia ‘full armor,’ from Greek, from pan ‘all’ + hopla ‘arms.’

So we praise You, Father, for impressively arraying Your children in splendid armor of truth, righteousness, peace, faith and salvation — that You have given us Your Word as a weapon and that our spiritual warfare victories often come as we worship You with music, dance and visual arts! Keep this image in our minds as we pray and claim the Arts & Entertainment Mountain of our community for Your honor and glory!

We thank You, Lord, for the anointing of Your Glory that is pouring out upon Christian musicians, artists, dancers and entertainers that You have called for the purpose of bringing Your light and love into this city; even the dark and broken places. It’s a special calling, and we ask that You give Church leadership the discernment to recognize it and help prepare and launch these gifted ones. Use them to infiltrate every “mountain of culture” in our city bringing Kingdom illumination through their talents.

We are so pleased that the Executive Director of The Arts Council (recently renamed Arts Huntsville), Allison Dillon-Jauken, gives You thanks and credit for the growth of their organization which is now the largest arts engagement, advocacy and service organization in North Alabama. We bless the leaders and workers for our Panoply festival and all Arts Huntsville endeavors! We pray wisdom and grace for this year’s Panoply Leadership Team and the 100 – 150 committee chairmen who plan, organize and recruit the 1,000+ shift volunteers that are needed. Raise up this army of volunteers again, Lord! May Your people be willing servants in our community who recognize Divine appointments to shine for You!

In your majesty ride forth victoriously in behalf of truth, humility and righteousness; let your right hand display awesome deeds. Ps. 45:4

You are invited to a time of prayer for Arts Huntsville, Tuesday evening March 1st from 6:30 – 7:30 pm. at their office, 700 Monroe St.SW, Suite 2, with Exec. Director Allison Dillon-Jauken and arts members. Come be part of blessing the Arts & Entertainment Mountain of our city.
