Prayers for Our City: May 30, 2016 Happy Memorial Day

As the summer season kicks off, we ask for Your help, Father, in creating plans for our families that will include rest, awareness of You, and good fun that will make lasting memories. Help us set good boundaries on our time and select quality events that will inspire and educate our children.

On this Memorial Day (and at many other times) we do pause to thank You for the men and women who sacrificed their freedoms for our own, who faced danger for our safety, and fell that we might rise. We honor them and bless their families with Your comfort and healing.

Thank You that support is being raised this Memorial Day through the Cotton Row Run for the wonderful organizations that support the families of our fallen military heroes. Watch over the 5,000+ participants in the race. We bless them and declare our city is a safe place. May all visitors coming into our city for this event and all summer activities experience Your peace and have encounters with Your love through Your people.

Thank You for all the vacation Bible schools coming up this summer season, and for the music, dance, sports and theater camps that are available in Huntsville/Madison County. Whether overtly Christian or not, may they all point our children/youth to Your wonderful creation and the special gifts and talents You give.

Father, we praise and thank You for blessing Huntsville/Madison County with rich sources of relaxation and refreshment. Thank you for all the parks, pools and recreational areas here. We pray for Your Presence of peace and protection over the 13 facilities of Madison County and the over 15 parks and facilities in Huntsville City. We bless those who provide oversight: Steve Ivey, Director of Huntsville Parks & Rec Dept. and Ronnie Elliott, Madison County Director.

As parents concerned for all children of our community, we pray healthy skills and mature self-image development for our children participating in Rec League and traveling sports teams. May their experiences this summer create strong, healthy, caring friendships through sports and recreational play.

Again, Lord, we look to You for guidance in using this summer season well. We invite You to participate in every activity and trip so that Your love and joy will permeate all! You are a fun, good Father!

“You will show me the way of life, granting me the joy of Your presence
and the pleasures of living with You forever.” Ps. 16:11
