“Sometimes, we need a midwife to surround us to help us walk through the pain so that we can press through it and hold the promise! I used to think that unless I had walked through a particular circumstance that I could not possibly understand or be effective. I have a very good friend and seminary colleague that is an OB/GYN. She is a teaching physician at Tulane. Dr. Lilly is single, never been married, and delivers babies, daily. People travel long distances because of her expertise yet she has never delivered a baby, herself. Sometimes…you have the knowledge, anointing or grace to walk alongside of someone when you have never had the experience.”

Winning Women Leaders

This is where I was finding myself. The Lord had sent me on a journey about two years ago to poll women between the ages of 20-65. I asked this question: What is burdening you? What is keeping you from moving forward ‘in Him?’ Some of their responses:

My husband says, “He has fallen out of love with me and he wants a divorce!”

I decided to stop eating. It is the only thing I can control in my life and now I don’t know how to turn it around.

I am constantly feeling like I’m not good enough and I can never measure up.

I have been suffering in silence for years in depression and no one knows.

I am being physically abused in my home.

As a single mom, I am so tired.

Same education, same experience yet I cannot seem to get the promotions.

I’m 35, my husband recently passed away, and everyone expects me to simply go on with life. Does anybody see me???

Finances: Mortgage payment, utilities, auto, and health insurance. I need someone to teach me to budget my finances.

I prayed and pondered. So, why would I gather this information and what am I to do with it? Winning Women was birthed out of these findings.

Winning Women is a ministry that chooses to lock arms, love beyond denominational borders, and empower one another. We focus on the “One” thing that we all have in common and that is Him! As a local pastor and the pastor of this ministry, I teach the Word at a depth that will feed and grow the soul challenging the day-to-day walk. I never want the Word to appear as simply words on a page. It is living, moving, and breathing for all of us! Winning Women is not only a time of teaching and mentoring but is a time of empowering, strengthening, and bonding with women from all denominations, all walks of life, in a safe environment. God intended for His creation to ‘do’ life together. He knew that we would need each other. That is exactly what we are doing.

We meet monthly, the third Thursday at 6:30 p.m. at Restoration Church-Madison, AL. Please join us. (256) 837-0643. Childcare provided 0-5 years.

One day as I was applying my make up my husband walked into the room and said, “Babe, you are beautiful!” My response to him was, “I feel invisible.” His response to me was, “I see you.” I left home & attendended Winning Women for the very first time. Pastor Angelia began sharing & one of the first statements she made was, “He is El Roi, the Lord God who sees.” I spent most of that worship experience on the carpet crying out to the Lord thanking Him for being the God who sees me when I feel most invisible. Pastor Angelia has a unique way of doing the same. I’ve known her for over a decade now & during times in which I’ve felt overlooked or overwhelmed she will reach out with a gentle reminder that says, “I believe in you.” She is a Winning Women. Her team consists of phenomenal women & I’m honored to benefit from their extraordinary gift of extending a common touch to others.
