People’s Corner: L.C. Smith
Tell us about yourself:
I am a proud husband to a beautiful lady for 15 years, and proud father of 3 sons. I am the founder and director of R. Fathers M.A.D., Inc., a nonprofit organization that expresses the importance of education and provides life skills to the youth of this generation among many other efforts. I am fortunate to have heard and followed the direction of God’s will which has allowed me to be an instrument in making a difference in many unexpected ways. I am a living witness of what God can and will do with the lives of those he calls faithful. I have a lot of priorities too and I place every effort in ensuring none of my assignments are neglected. I am also fortunate to assist others in making a difference by providing nonprofit coaching and consulting through; L.C. Smith & Associates. LLC.
What motivates you to do what you do?
This is a LOADED question for me! Be sure to read the last sentence for a very simple answer. I am able to stand in the gap of what so many of our young men are missing; a father. I’m motivated by understanding what’s it’s like to not have a father to reach out to for advice, insight, or guidance. My understanding motives me to be sure I cannot let those I serve down. I have to ensure I am able to keep my word and follow through every time. I’m motivated knowing if I drop the ball I only become another man in their lives who chose not to commit. Lastly, what motivates me? Knowing I am living out God’s purpose and calling on my life!
What is one verse that has been significant in your life and why?
Psalm 54:4 “But God is my help. The Lord is who sustains me.” Through it all I know he kept me! Through what is to come he will keep me!
What is God speaking to you right now?
Right now God is letting me know I am approaching another season to JUMP. A season to take this one life I have been given to another level. I stepped out on faith and left a full-time paying position for a part-time paying position because God said it was time. God is preparing me for another season to JUMP. The question is, will I again have the courage to be obedient to what thus says the Lord this time around? The answer is yes because I stand by the fact that God is my sustainer and not man.
What is one of your most memorable God moments in this city?
My memorable God moments will always be the people of Huntsville, AL. This community is the reason I am able to make a difference. The support leaves me speechless at times. God is truly using his servants in Huntsville to sow in unique ways to make this city great.
