Prayers for Our City: June 29, 2020 – Family

“Even to your old age and gray hairs I am He, I am He who will sustain you. I have made you and I will carry you …” Isaiah 46:4 NIV

Praying Your blessings on our senior adults of Huntsville/Madison County this week, Father. We honor them for the contributions, hard work, and sacrifices they have made over the years that we are benefitting from today. We ask You, Holy Spirit, to fill them with inspiration for how best to use their time and energy.

Father, we are so concerned that in Alabama, 75% of the people who have died of COVID-19 have been 65 or older, and that every week we continue to see more outbreaks in nursing homes across the state. We thank You that here in Huntsville/Madison County there has not been a dangerous outbreak in our care facilities. Our cry continues that the Precious Blood of the Lamb would cause this disease to “pass over” our elderly in care facilities, family homes, and those living alone.

Brookshire Health Care Center in Huntsville, a 129-bed facility.

Grant great wisdom and vigilance to administrators and employees caring for our elderly in the twelve nursing home facilities in our area (see list of facilities here) plus our state-run VA facility, Floyd E. “Tut” Fann home. We bless them with Your strength and grace, and may our prayers release ministering angles to keep both employees and residents aware of Your love and Your protection against the invisible enemy of sickness and fear.

Oh, Lord, please show families and the Church creative ways to maintain vital communication with the elderly. We are so sorry they have been in quarantine for months, and we declare the comforting freedom of Your Wing overshadow each one. (Psalm 91:1-4) We stand against all dark forces that want to torment with fear, loneliness, and hopelessness. May this season only serve to bring connection, family reconciliation, and the fulfillment of Malachi 4:6 – “He shall turn the heart of the fathers to the children, and the heart of the children to their fathers…”

Pour out Your strength and peace, Father, on all who are advanced in years. May they see their value in this season of life. Cause them to live to see their prayers answered and make their latter years significant, reflecting the glory of God.

We pray removal of all obstacles that have prevented any of our senior adults from trusting in Your saving grace, Jesus; and thank You, Holy Spirit, for confirming God’s love and Presence to our elderly.

“And surely I [Jesus] am with you always, to the very end of the age.” Matthew 28:20b NIV
