Northeast Alabama Fellowship of Christian Athletes (NE AL FCA) is preparing for an “Undefeated” camp season.

NE AL FCA will host four “Power Camps” this summer for children ages 7-13. With locations in Albertville, Cullman, Hampton Cove, and Madison, the camps offer sports clinics with instruction by local trainers, professional athletes, and college and high school coaches. From boxing to cheerleading, Power Camps offer top-notch training for any young student athlete.

Though sports training is an important part of Power Camps, NE AL FCA is dedicated to providing spiritual training for campers. Power Camps fulfill the FCA vision of seeing the world impacted for Jesus Christ through the influence of athletes and coaches.

The 2015 camp theme, “Undefeated,” is taken from 1 Corinthians 15:57, “But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ!”

Area Director Ken Burnett is ready for “the best times ever” at Power Camp this year. “God uses FCA Power Sports Camps to change lives!” he said, “Through the national ministry of FCA, thousands have either strengthened or started their walk with Christ and have grown in their faith. We are pumped to bring the Word to our community this summer.”

When students aren’t honing their sports skills, they join “huddles” lead by FCA student leaders and interns. Sharing devotionals, prayers, and inter-huddle competition, the huddles foster fellowship, encouragement, and accountability through the camp week.

FCA projects over 1100 attendees for the 2015 season. Last year, 1000 students from across north Alabama attended NE AL FCA camps. Almost a quarter of the student attendees dedicated or rededicated their lives to Christ during Power Camps.

The NE AL FCA camp ministry is not limited to young student athletes. Three of the camps offer Family Night, an opportunity for families to experience Power Camps. After a free fellowship dinner, families are invited to a night of encouragement and worship, featuring special guest speaker Melvin Adams, a former NBA player and Harlem Globetrotter.

“These camps are important to northeast Alabama,” explained Camp Director Jamie Strange. “Local coaches and student athletes are coming together to serve local children. They’re reaching children through sports with the message and hope of Christ and that’s something that brings the community together.”
