Prayers for Our City: March 20,2017 – Government

”Blessed are they who maintain justice, who constantly do what is right.”
Psalm 106:3

We focus our prayers of blessings this week on our Huntsville Police Department. Thank You, Father, for the protection You provide through their commitment and vigilance.

We pray Your help and courage upon the new Police Academy class of 30 applicants which began on March 6 and will graduate in July. We bless Captain Dewayne McCarver, HPD Police Academy Director with wisdom and skill in overseeing their training.

Thank You, Father, for our Police Chief Mark McMurray who was promoted to this position September 2015 following 30 years of service with the department.

We honor him and the 370 officers under his command, asking that You be their shield and protector physically and emotionally (Ps. 115:11). Give them wisdom, principled patience and gentle authority. We pray that they may be anxious for nothing, and that the peace of God will guard their hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. (Philippians 4:6-7) We ask strength and blessing for their families.

May the Huntsville Police Department be agents of Your Hand to resist evil and bring an environment in which heaven’s justice can increase!

(Whenever you have an opportunity to speak with an officer on duty in the city, share a word of thanks and give him/her a quick word of blessing!)
