“It’s Time to Renew” by Toya Poplar

If the life that you are living is not what you envisioned.
And the goals that you set have not yet come to fruition.
Like a library book that’s overdue, RENEW.

Our year begins with anticipation and application of righting our wrongs. We face the New Year ready to prioritize our time and purge our closets. We project desires to increase reading books and decrease scrolling screens. We make it our aim to eat less and work out more. We have the best intentions to crush our goals and stay connected or reconnect with God. Then somewhere about midway through the madness of May, we start to reflect on all the unmet goals we set.

Do you feel stuck somewhere between what you wanted to do and what needs to be done? Do you have a vision board or journal filled with plans that pain you when you reflect on how little you’ve accomplished? Perhaps you have successfully achieved your goals, and you are wondering, “What’s next?”

Whether you dropped the ball, started slowly, or finished fast, we all find ourselves in need of a refresher course from time to time. What to do when you don’t know what to do? The answer is simple, it’s time to RENEW.

Do not be conformed to this age, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may discern what is the good, pleasing, and perfect will of God.Romans 12:2 Holman Christian Standard Bible

Conforming to the world takes place when we scroll through timelines instead of searching through scripture or circulate gossip instead of sharing the gospel. Over time we find ourselves stuck in cycles of sin, or seeking advice from men. When you feel passionate about something do you take it to the Father, or Tweet it to your followers? When you are sick do you go to God in prayer or Google your symptoms in fear?

Renewing your mind with God’s Word can take you from exasperated to elated. If you are weary in your faith, faltering in your fitness, give out by your goals, and consumed by the clutter in both your closet and your mind, there’s hope! God’s Word can cause you to go from being weary to doing well. It can recalibrate your thoughts, restore your joy, refresh your spirit, and reset your mind.

Once your mind is renewed those vision boards will no longer taunt you, and fitness goals won’t haunt you. God will begin to reveal His good and perfect will for your life.
