Prayers for Our City – August 22, 2016

“From one man he created all the nations throughout the whole earth. He decided beforehand when they should rise and fall, and he determined their boundaries.
His purpose was for the nations to seek after God and perhaps feel their way toward him and find him—though he is not far from any one of us.” Acts 17:26-27

We thank You, Father, for choosing and appointing us to live in this particular place at this particular time. It is no accident that we are living here at this time, so we thank You for placing us in Huntsville/Madison County, in Alabama, in these United States and we accept the assignment to pray for the area You have placed us in! We want every person of every nationality that has been placed in this city/region to come to know You, Lord! We have a beautiful mix here, and we thank You for bringing so much diversity to this city. You’ve brought the nations here to rub shoulders with Your people, so we cry out to You on their behalf.

According to city demographics as of 2013:

Some other race: 5,166 2.87%

Locally, Indians are the leading subgroup in our Asian community. The second-largest subgroup in Huntsville is Chinese, followed by Korean.

Reveal to each person in Huntsville/Madison County that You are God our Savior, and You want them to be saved, and not to perish (2 Pet 3:9). Draw them into Scripture. Impress them that the Gospels were written so they also may believe that Jesus is the Son of God and have eternal life (John 20:31).

May your mercy come quickly to each person in our city, for we need You desperately (Ps 79:5-8). You love us with an everlasting love. Draw us to Yourself with loving-kindness (Jer. 31:3). Reveal Yourself to those who have not known You in ways that will lead them to salvation. Show them that You are the one true God: forgiving, gracious, full of unfailing love and mercy (Neh. 9:17). Give them close encounters with Your power and love, Your mercy and grace, Your righteousness and justice, Your goodness and faithfulness, Your patience, Your knowledge of everything hidden, and Your presence with them. Pour out Your goodness on every nation represented in our city!

We thank You for the International Society of Huntsville and bless them as they promote the international community in Northern Alabama. (2016 International Festival info http://www.internationalsocietyofhuntsville.org/events.html )

“God be merciful to us and bless us, and cause Your face to shine upon us, that Your way may be known on earth, and Your salvation among all nations. Let the people praise You, O God; Let all the peoples praise You. Oh, let the nations be glad and sing for joy! For You shall judge the people righteously, and govern the nations on the earth.” Psalm 67:1-4
