Prayers For Our City: Family & Invitation to Pray

I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me….”  Matt. 25:35
As we join to pray for those in Huntsville/Madison County who are struggling in cycles of poverty, we ask You, Father, to help the Body of Christ here to be united in this battle both on the spiritual level and the physical/action level.

Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress….” James 1:27

This task seems so big, Lord; enable us to reach out to just one and start somewhere.   May we not miss opportunities that are right before us.   Connect us to those who have pioneered the way and can mentor us.

“Therefore as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience.” Col. 3:12

Change hard hearts to hearts of compassion.  Forgive us for being indifferent, fearful, judgmental, or having disdain.

Behold I send you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves: be ye therefore wise as serpents and harmless as doves.”  Matt. 10:16

We need Your discernment, Lord,  to filter through the “con artists” and those who will truly benefit from our care.

“Your prayers and gifts to the poor have come up as a memorial offering before God.” Acts 10:4

Thank You for the local church food pantries and benevolent funds that offer assistance to the misfortunate.  Bless the work that Manna House, First Stop, Rescue Mission, Salvation Army, HEALS Inc. and so many local ministries and nonprofits do to help the needy.   Praise You for how Lincoln Village Ministry and Village of Promise are transforming complete neighborhoods/school districts  in our city.  We pray provision and increase for these organizations that help us feed, cloth and care for those in need.

For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though He was rich, yet for your sakes He became poor, that you through His poverty might be rich.  II Cor. 8:9

We praise You, Jesus, for redeeming us — freeing us from a poverty spirit.  Help us walk in that truth and bring this message of hope and abundant life to all.

7 Mountain City Intercessors will meet to pray over the Manna House ministry with Director Fran Fluhler on   Feb. 2 from 6:307:30 pm.  You are invited to join in this time of blessing and prayer at the Manna House next to The Rock Family Worship Center, 2110 S. Memorial Parkway.
