Prayers for Our City: February 20, 2017

“In the year 1823, the last Thursday of February each year was agreed upon as the day for special supplication that God would pour from on high His Spirit upon our Colleges and Seminaries. And what have been some of the results? In the years 1824 and 1825, revivals were experienced in 5 different colleges; in 1826, in 6 colleges; in 1831, in 19… In one of the colleges it is stated that a revival started on the very day of the concert of prayer. In 1835, not less than 18 revivals were reported by different colleges.” By the end of the 19th century, these repeated student awakenings had radically transformed the culture and moral climate of many of our largest universities. As a result, many of America’s ministers at this time were encouraging their congregations to send their children to college, if they wanted to see them safe and soundly converted.”

We pray, Lord, for Your blessing and favor on the Collegiate Day of Prayer (CDOP) 2/23/17. Thank You for this annual designated day (last Thursday of February) for believers across the nation to unite and cover every campus in America in prayer. We ask that the spark from this one-day initiative will ignite a fire storm of prayer for our colleges and universities and we will once again see student awakenings that change the culture and moral climate of our schools. We know the time is now and the need is desperate!

How we praise You for the prayer movement that continues to be birthed on our campuses in the form of 24/7 Houses of Prayer and Prayer Furnaces, as well as years of faithful prayer from the campus ministry organizations. We ask for increase in their numbers and power!

Depending on the number present, we will combine into cars and divide the campus assignments, driving to and through those campuses as we pray. For more information, reply to this email.

Also that evening from 8-10 pm, there will be an evening of prayer and worship for the Collegiate Day of Prayer put on by Storehouse UAH. Contact person is Rachel Rdb0019@uah.edu
