Prayers for Our City: February 25, 2019 – Family

“No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and He will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation He will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it.” I Corinthians 10:13 ESV

Father, in Jesus Name we are calling on You to set those bound in drug addiction (and all addictions) free!  We praise You, Lord, that You are faithful and You intervene and provide the needed way of escape from bondage.

It is so alarming, Lord, to learn that Alabama has risen to the top in the opioid crisis with the highest per capita number of opioid prescriptions of any state in the country – a rate of 1.2 prescriptions for every resident. [Opioids are a class of drugs that includes illegal substances like heroin, but which is primarily composed of legal painkillers like oxycodone, hydrocodone, and methadone. See reports here.] The number of those dying from overdoses in our state has been climbing, with 741 deaths in 2016 (Overdosing in AL). We cry out for mercy and comfort for those family and friends who have suffered such profound loss.

We pray for lawmakers, spiritual leaders, and community leaders to rise up and band together to address this crisis. Help us get to the root of this issue and deal with all the contributing factors. We pray for adequate treatment centers and counseling so that it becomes easier to get help than to get drugs!

We pray Your anointing of love and the proper training for counselors, pastors, law enforcement officers and medical professionals as they deal with those in drug addiction crisis. May the Body of Christ grow in our ability to pray and minister inner healing and deliverance to all in need here in Madison County (one of three most populated counties in Alabama).

We thank You for and bless every Celebrate Recovery,  NA, AA,  individual and group counseling, treatment centers and detox facilities to help families of a struggling addict and the addict themselves. To pray over a listing of outpatient and residential drug/alcohol rehabilitation programs in Huntsville/Madison County, click here. Lord Jesus, may Your peace, freedom and healing flourish in these facilities.

“In all their suffering He also suffered, and He personally rescued them. In His love and mercy, He redeemed them.  He lifted them up and carried them through all the years.”  Isaiah 63:9 NLT
