Prayers for Our City, February 6, 2017

Merciful Father, we are a blessed city, yet there still remain pockets of poverty and neglect.  We ask You to stir up Your Holy Spirit within us to give us Your eyes and Your heart in order to pray from hope, not pity.

Oh God, we ask You to establish the poor so that their spiritual and physical needs are met with dignity and stability.   Use us to help release them from cycles of oppression and despair.   Lord, move us beyond simply identifying the problem,  to providing tangible solutions. Only You have the mercy and might to reverse every curse and multiply blessing.  Only You can enable us to overcome the barriers that keep us from forming relationships in our vulnerable communities.

Thank You for the work of The CornerStone Initiative.  We pray blessing on their C4 annual conference (2/21) where attendees are invited to consider where we can reflect on our efforts taken towards “helping” others and continue that journey towards deeper commitments that are necessary to bring about “lasting” change.
