Prayers for Our City: January 28, 2019 -Government

“But let justice roll on like a river, righteousness like a never-failing stream!” Amos 5:24 NIV

Father God, before we pray over the judicial system of our county/state/nation, we need to ask You to search us and forgive us if we have, in any way, been unjust to other people. I repent for any way that I have treated others wrongly just because they have differing viewpoints or beliefs from my own. Help me to love all people regardless of their beliefs. Use my mouth to pray blessings over them and not to curse them.

Oh God, we know how important justice is to Your heart. On behalf of our nation, we repent for voting for unjust judges who rule according to personal opinion instead of moral truth. By Your justice, we ask that You would expose corruption in our judicial system.

Thank You for Chief Justice Tom Parker of the Alabama Supreme Court. You have established this strong pro-life, pro-family justice in this position and we ask You to thwart the enemy’s attempts to undermine his authority or remove him.

We pray Your Hand of blessing on our Madison County Judges. These are the men and women whose decisions greatly impact the future of individuals, families, businesses and all aspects of our community life.

Like King David, we ask that You give them a heart to rule over the people and execute justice (II Sam. 8:15). Put Your wise words in the mouths of our judges to encourage and correct the people. According to Genesis 18:19, doing what is right and just involves keeping the “way of the Lord.” And Proverbs 10:29 says, “The way of the Lord is a stronghold to those with integrity, but it destroys the wicked.”(NLT) Oh God, in spite of the complications and compromise often found in the judicial process, cause our judges to be shining examples of Your truth, grace, and justice!

Holy Spirit, we ask that You pray for our judges through us right now as if we were praying for friends or family; not just a list of names.
