Dear Lord,

We lift up our prayers as an offering,

to love our city to life:

“Let love and faithfulness never leave you; bind them around your neck, write them on the tablet of your heart. Then you will win favor and a good name in the sight of God and man.” Proverbs 3:3-4 NIV

“Old men and old women will come back to Jerusalem (Huntsville), sit on benches on the streets and spin tales, move around safely with their canes—a good city to grow old in. And boys and girls will fill the public parks, laughing and playing—a good city to grow up in.”  Zech. 8:4-5 MSG

We pray for peace and unity in our homes, churches and government.

We pray for generosity and hospitality to flow freely to all.

We pray that the joy of the Lord is our strength.

We pray that goodness and kindness are the seasoning in our streets.

We pray that humility is contagious and pride is eradicated.

We pray that Perfect Love casts out fear and its counterfeit, called lust.

We pray that selflessness trumps selfishness and self control overrides “out of control.”

We pray that patience and gentleness characterize our people.

We pray that serving others and speaking the truth in love is the norm.

We pray for faithfulness in marriages.

We pray for parents and teachers to point the next generation in the right direction, so that when they are old they won’t be lost. (See Prov. 22:6 MSG)

We pray for the lost to be found, the blind to see, the lame to walk, the sick to be healed, the naked to be clothed, the bound to be free, the hungry and thirsty to be fed, and the lonely to be placed in families all because Jesus reigns in Our City!

We pray for God to make our city intelligent and discerning in knowing him personally, our eyes focused and clear, so that we can see exactly what it is he is calling us to do, grasp the immensity of this glorious way of life he has for his followers, oh, the utter extravagance of his work in us who trust him—endless energy, boundless strength! Eph. 1: 16-19

We pray that bringing God glory is the foundation and the focus of EVERYTHING!

Amen
