Prayers for Our City: March 11, 2019 – Business

“Even to your old age and gray hairs I am He, I am He who will sustain you. I have made you and I will carry you…”  Isaiah 46:4 NIV

Dear Father God, would You move by Your Spirit in each of the nursing home facilities in Huntsville/Madison County bringing Your peace, restoration, truth, and connection with your loving Father heart. Who cares more for the elderly and the infirm than You? No one, Lord. Your compassion, Your love, Your sustaining power, Your abiding tender mercies touch the most frail…the most confused…the most downcast…the most forgetful…the most pained. We give glory to You as we ponder the immensity of Your loving kindness to the humble and the hurting.

We cover the 12 nursing home facilities in our area, plus our state-run VA facility, the Floyd E. “Tut” Fann home. (Facilities listed here.) Only two of these facilities have a 5-star rating, Lord, so we pray for the owners/administrators to be willing and able to correct/improve the problem areas in the home they are providing to our precious senior adults and those who need extended recovery care.

We pray over the staff at our nursing homes, Lord. They have a hard job and many times don’t receive adequate acknowledgment and thanks for what they do. Encourage them as to the importance and beauty of their job and the opportunity they have to bring You to the people they are serving. Bless them with patience and strength when they become tired and the job becomes stressful. May they be given dignity and respect as they, in turn, pour it out on the residents they care for.

We thank You for the opportunity You give the Church to minister to the elderly and the infirm in long-term care, remembering Your definition of “pure religion” is caring for widows and orphans. We pray for all who are called and appointed to be Your ambassador of Love and encouragement1 Go before them preparing hearts to receive Your ministry of Christ’s saving grace. Grant them favor, wisdom, understanding, and discernment in their interaction with staff, residents, family members, and other volunteers. We pray for the Church to maintain vital communication and outreach to our brothers and sisters in nursing homes; exhorting them to continue in their desire to be useful and bring forth fruit in their old age! Cause them to live to see their prayers answered and make their latter years significant, reflecting the glory of God.

We bless every soul who is living in our nursing homes to experience Your comfort and hope. Dear God, no human breathing Your free air is too small, too insignificant, too forgotten to fall outside Your infinite interest and Your Loving Care. Flood the halls and the rooms of our nursing homes with Your Presence. Give “divine appointments” to every believer who comes in the door. May sickness, loneliness, and infirmity be lifted. We pray removal of all obstacles that have prevented any from trusting Your saving grace!

“The LORD is my shepherd; I have all that I need. He lets me rest in green meadows; He leads me beside peaceful streams. He renews my strength….Even when I walk through the darkest valley, I will not be afraid, for You are close beside me. Your rod and Your staff protect and comfort me.”  Ps. 23:1-4 NLT
