Prayers for Our City: March 23, 2020 – Nonprofits

“In everything I showed you that by working hard in this manner you must help the weak and remember the words of the Lord Jesus, that He Himself said, ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.'” Acts 20:35 NASB

Merciful Lord, we pause within this “attention-getting pause” You have allowed to impact our city, nation, and the world to reverence Your mighty Name and thank You for the shalom You provide Your children in the midst of the crisis. Our hearts are filled with faith in Your goodness and hope for Your plans and purposes to be established on the earth at this time – as it is in Heaven!

We continue lifting before You our mayors, councilmen and women, commissioners, first responders, school superintendents, medical personnel and all providing leadership and care over Huntsville/Madison County. Thank You for pouring out wisdom, grace, good rest and energy to them.

We also hold before You the nonprofits of this area who are standing on the front lines to provide services and resources to the homeless and less fortunate, especially at this time. Many of our nonprofits are facing a financial crisis because of the pandemic. Thank You for The Community Foundation of Greater Huntsville, led by CEO Melissa Thompson (pictured below), whose mission is to increase philanthropic giving in our community in order to strengthen the 140 nonprofits in their membership. We bless all these organizations with supernatural provision poured out through the hearts and hands of Your people in this community.

Melissa Thompson, CEO THe Community Foundation of Greater Huntsville

Five things Ms. Thompson listed you can do to help during this crisis:

  1. Donate to the emergency relief fund for nonprofits at CFHuntsville.
  2. Donate directly to your favorite local nonprofit.
  3. Make sure your nonprofit participates in the free charity tracker network of our local nonprofits HERE.
  4. Register to watch the virtual town hall meeting for all nonprofits on Tuesday, March 24, at 10:00 a.m. HERE.
  5. If you or someone you know needs assistance, dial 211 and speak with a trained assistant who can help connect you to the resources in the community you might be needing.

“The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.'” Matthew 25:40 NIV
