Prayers for Our City: March 30, 2020 – Education

“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort those who are in any trouble, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.” 2 Corinthians 1:3-4 NKJV

Father, we are lifting up our precious teachers and students of Huntsville/Madison County who recently found out they will not return to the classroom but will finish the year through remote learning. Lord, please comfort our teachers’ hearts as they just want to wrap their arms around their kids and make sure they are all right. Our school kids are missing the structure and fun of the classroom with their friends. Our teens are struggling to process the disappointment of the abrupt end of their sports, drama, music, and social activities. Parents are concerned whether their kids will get what they need to progress and move on to the next grade level through at-home remote learning under their guidance. Help each one pour out their hearts to You and receive Your comfort!

We realize the need for safety and know our school superintendents made a good decision, Lord, so now we pray that You will enable every teacher and principal to tap into Your wisdom and receive creative ways to interact and teach the students and keep them engaged and moving forward. Thank You for the technology we have now. The normal isn’t coming back to this school year, but that doesn’t mean You aren’t going to make something very good out of this! (Romans 8:26-29) Lift the pressure and tension of having to accomplish things perfectly. May parents experience the euphoria that teachers love when they see the “light bulb” go on in a child’s mind when they are introduced to something new in nature, science, etc. And we praise You that school at home can teach the Bible all they want to!!

We pray Your grace over parents and caregivers who are attempting to explain to the kids and teens what is happening because of this contagious disease and reassure them that better days are ahead!

We especially lift up Morris and Endeavor Elementary Schools as we pray for the kids from the classrooms of the teachers that have contracted COVID-19.

Bless our college students having to complete this year’s work online. In this season of great restriction and isolation, give them peace and encounters with the closest Friend they can every know. (Proverbs 18:24) Protect our youth and show them productive ways to use their time and cause this to be a season of extraordinary maturing. We pray and declare that this generation’s story is not that they survived coronavirus, but that God used this season to launch them into their destiny to help bring in the greatest Harvest of history!

Thank You for the opportunity the Body of Christ in Huntsville has to supply and man the distribution sites that are serving food to our city school kids starting this week. We cover every worker and all who come to pick up food with Your protecting Blood, Lord Jesus.

To see the list of food items you can donate or sign up to do various volunteer jobs at a pickup site, see hsvdreamcenter.org. This is the Church’s time to shine and to cover our precious kids and this community with Your hope and love!
