Prayers for Our City: October 21, 2019 – Family

“My children, our love should not be just words and talk; it must be true love, which shows itself in action.” I John 3:18 GNT

Thank You, Father, that our local news media highlights people of our community that see a need and take action to provide Your solution. This week we think of the ones we know who are doing that and bless them for their example and inspiration to Huntsville/Madison County. Pour out provision and energy and love to each one of them and the organizations that have come to be because they listened and obeyed Your call on their lives.

Here are examples of two people recently featured by WAAY 31 News as Hometown Hero of the month. Lord, we thank You for their hearts and pray You will continue to use them mightily to impact the lives of many in Huntsville/Madison County.

We pray blessings on Angela Walker, founder and CEO of Huntsville Community Drum Line (1800 Jordan Lane) which offers an extracurricular option for youth to be involved in a positive, community-based activity. In addition to teaching drumming, a craft that will help participants compete for college scholarships, children are taught self-respect, respect for others, self-discipline and pride in our community. Praise You, Lord, for more than 2,000 kids that have been touched through this experience.

We pray rich blessings also on Sue Hereford, a humble community leader in Gurley who has helped countless moms and children in need. She is President of the non-profit Graces of Gurley which provides school supplies, food, discipling, mentoring and tutoring for the neediest in the community while working closely with Madison County Elementary School.

Help more and more Believers in Huntsville/Madison County respond to Your call to rise up with solutions to the needs and problems of our community and be heroes in Jesus’ Name!

“Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ.” Galatians 6:2 KJV
