Prayers for Our City: October 29, 2018 – Family

“For You, O Lord, are the Most High over all the earth;
You are exalted far above all gods.” Psalm 97:9 NIV

Thank You, Father, that as we pray, You are protecting our kids and teens this week from events and activities that would cause them to fear any other “god”, demon or influence above You – the One true God before whom fire goes out and consumes Your enemies! (Ps. 97:3) We “set a guard over the mouth” of every teacher, school worker, bus driver and coach so they will not speak fear into our little ones or influence our teens to explore occult practices. And the same goes for parents, neighbors, family members and peers!

Thank You for giving us the picture and the powerful reality of Your sheltering wings of Psalm 91. As we pray a protective covering and a shield about our community, we rest in the promise that “we live within the shadow of the Almighty, sheltered by the God who is above all gods. This I declare, that You alone are our refuge, our place of safety who rescues us from every trap and protects us from deadly pestilence. You shelter us with Your wings… Your faithful promises are our armor. Now we don’t need to be afraid of the dark any more, nor dread the plagues of darkness, nor disasters …” (Ps. 91:1-6 TLB)

We thank You for the many churches hosting harvest festival fun activities for our children. May every festival worker see these children from Your perspective and have an opportunity to speak words of affirmation and destiny over each child. May there be a harvest of those who are longing for Your Love and Light in a dark world. Thank you for every business that participates in providing safe, family oriented activities. Give parents wisdom on what would not be good for their children to experience in this season and challenge our Christian educators and families to take advantage of the opportunity to share the history of All Saints Day and Reformation Day.

We thank You for angels standing watch over our streets and neighborhoods protecting lives and property as we daily plead the blood of Jesus over all that pertains to Huntsville/Madison County in Jesus Name. We rejoice that You are Lord of every day of the year! We take our stand as “watchmen” of this community to close the “gates of entry” to all forms of darkness that want to rob us of LIFE!

“The thief comes only in order to kill, steal and destroy.
I came that they may have and enjoy life, and have it in abundance
(to the full, till it overflows),” John 10:10 AMP
