Prayers for Our City: September 26, 2016

In March of 2016, a teenager by the name of Skyler Miller felt led of the Lord to preach to fellow students right on campus at Logan High School in West Virginia. This young preacher knew the touch of God—he had been healed twice of leukemia. His boldness sparked a revival that has spread across West Virginia.

Skyler is careful not to attribute the whole thing to his preaching, as the Lord clearly poured out in other places, as well, but as far as anyone can tell this bold young man was the Firestarter in his state. So much so that the secular media has reported on it. (see full article http://loganbanner.com/news/6207/revival-in-the-halls-of-logan-high )

Katie Endicott, the Prayer Club sponsor at Mingo Central High School, says this move of God originated with impromptu preaching by Logan High student Skyler Miller at his school in late March. Then, on April 10, evangelist Matt Hartley preached at Regional Church of God (Cleveland, Tennessee) in Delbarton, prompting an invitation to speak to Mingo Central’s Prayer Club.

Of the 400 students who attended, 150 responded to Hartley’s invitation to receive Christ as Savior. It is estimated that more than 2,000 people have accepted Jesus as their Savior since late March. The Williamson Field House has hosted a number of nightly meetings that have drawn upwards of 2,000 people in a county with only 27,000 residents. (see picture below)

And, although Skyler Miller — who gave God the glory for his healing from leukemia —helped light the spark, the credit for this wave belongs to God. Endicott says this awakening is larger than any one person, school, church, or denomination and reflects decades of prayer and sowing seed. We ask You, Lord, to raise up young men and women filled with the Holy Spirit who will unashamedly preach the gospel in their schools. May our prayers sow the seeds and open the way for them to come forth. We ask You, God, to prepare hearts. We pray for receptive teachers and administrators. We pray for the hardest hearts and most challenging students to be radically saved and delivered, so there is no doubt that this is an awakening move of God!

We call forth the lunch-time preachers in the schools of America! We cry out for awakening! Raise up historic revivals in the schools, God! We call for revival right here in Huntsville/Madison County’s schools.

The last week of September is Global Week of Student Prayer with the key event, See You at the Pole, on Wed. Sept. 28. Father, we are asking that students be awakened to pray at the flag poles and unashamedly speak up in the hallways and the cafeterias every school day!
