Prayers For Our City: Media

“Cast your burdens upon the Lord and He shall sustain you.  He shall never suffer the righteous to be shaken.”

(Psalms 55:22)

“As for me I will call upon God,  and the Lord will save……Evening, morning and at noon will I pray and cry aloud, and He shall hear my voice.”

(Psalms 55:16-17)

Quicken us to pray as we receive reports and alerts throughout the day from our local news media sources.  We ask for compassion to pray Your grace over people and situations that seem so dark, and faith to believe that our prayers make a difference.  Protect our hearts & minds from becoming cynical, judgmental or depressed.  There is always the “report of the Lord” that is higher than the thoughts and reports of man (Isaiah 55:9).   Help us to pray from Your perspective so that Your Kingdom comes and Your will is done on earth.

We commit ourselves to pray over the media in our region, blessing them and taking every opportunity we can to encourage and contribute positive input.  We ask for wisdom and caution on the part of those who alert and inform us.  Father, may journalists and reporters avoid sensationalism, propaganda, and anything which provokes discouragement or fear.  “Set a watch over their mouths, O Lord; keep watch over the door of their lips.” (Psalm 141:3) However, when a clarion call needs to come forth, especially to warn people of the need to correct  attitudes and actions that are causing moral decline, we pray they have a spirit of boldness and clarity.  “…Pray that I may declare it fearlessly, as I should.” Ephesians 6:20
We thank You, Lord, for the men and women involved in our local news media who are Your followers.  Increase their sensitivity to hear Your voice and receive discernment to expose things hidden in darkness and reveal Your goodness. ( I Cor. 4:5)   Holy Spirit, You are the Spirit of truth.  We invite You to come and guide our news media into all the truth.”But when He, the Spirit of truth, comes, He will guide you into all the truth…” John 16:13
